Twitter (X) video download not working? Causes and fixes

When a video from X will not download, the cause is usually one of the six below.

The account is protected, or the post is gone

Posts from a protected account are shown only to approved followers, so a downloader cannot read them. The same goes for deleted posts and suspended accounts.

To check, open the link in a private browser window. If the post does not appear there, it cannot be downloaded.

X asks you to sign in to see the post

Posts marked as sensitive or age-restricted are shown only to signed-in adults. Nabfox never signs in, so these posts are not supported.

The link is not a post

A post link contains /status/ followed by a long number. Links to a profile, a Space, a live broadcast or a search are not posts. Open the post, tap Share, then Copy link, and paste that link.

The post has a GIF or photos, not a video

X stores a GIF as a short silent video. Nabfox offers it as a GIF file or as MP4, but there is no sound to save as MP3. A post with photos offers the photos.

X is turning requests away

X sometimes refuses requests from download services for a while. Nothing is wrong with your link. Nabfox tells you when this is the reason; wait a little and try again.

The file was saved, but you cannot find it

On iPhone, Safari saves to the Downloads folder of the Files app, not to Photos. On Android, Chrome saves to the Downloads folder. The two guides linked below show where to look.
